Annual Ovarian Cancer 5k

Steve and I have been running in the same Ovarian Cancer 5k for 10 years in honor of my mom. We haven't missed a year and don't intend to anytime soon. This year we gathered some friends to join Carole's Crew (the name of our team) to either run or walk the 3.2 miles. We had a great turnout despite the colder weather and we're very thankful for all our friends who support this great cause.

The night before the race Steve spent at least an hour prepping the running stroller. Steve was in his "competitive mode" and wanted to beat everyone. He removed the storage unit under the stroller (it weighs it down) and removed Lucas' food tray. Well I guess it worked because Steve came in 4th overall and 1st in his age group. Yet again he earned a trophy for his hard work. I didn't do too shabby either and ran a 8:28 minute mile and finished a little over 26 minutes. I'll take it. It's the best I've run since Lucas has been born. All you mothers out there know how hard it is to come back after a baby.

Hopefully next year we'll have an even bigger crew!

Holy moly...Great job..both of you! In this case, "go lightly into the ribbon" made you, Steve a real winner.

And Tracy...I can't even imagine a 8:28 minute mile...My hat is off to all of you and your friends who make up this fabulous Carol's Crew.

Love, Aunty Susan
