The Plane, The Plane

After a very rough fourth of July week, Lucas and I headed to North Carolina for a mini-vacation. My friend and her family rented a house on the Outerbanks and asked us to join them. Since Steve doesn't get much time off he stayed home to work.
I was a bit apprehensive taking Lucas on a plane for a few reasons:
1. He still had a cough.
2. I didn't know if his ears would hurt.
3. He had to sit still on my lap.
4. I was by myself with an 18 month old.
4. I was by myself with an 18 month old.
5. We had to transfer planes.
Overall, it went pretty well. The biggest obstacle was #3 from above. He couldn't have cared less about take off or landing but he did not like sitting on my lap for a long period of time. I tried giving him lollipops, watching a dvd, new toys, snacks, etc. But those would only hold his interest for a few moments. Luckily the flight attendants were pretty helpful and let Lucas run up and down the aisle. He was so tired out from all that running that on our 2nd flight from D.C. to Norfolk he actually fell asleep on the lady next to me. The way home was a bit more stressful with a 2 1/2 hour delay. But we made it.
Lucas loved the beach house! He must have spent hours climbing up and down the stairs. Since the beach was only walking distance away we went everyday. Lucas liked running in and out of the water but wasn't sure what to make of the waves. The beach toys and sand were a big hit though!

I think I need a vacation from my vacation!

Father's Day

I asked Steve what he wanted for Father's Day and he replied "the whole family to run in a 5k." Most dads wouldn't make this strange request but most dads aren't my husband. We did some research and found a family friendly 5k in Hopkinton. Steve did awesome! He was the first runner to cross the finish line pushing a stroller. I don't know how he does it. I did better than I thought but not as good as I used to be. I guess that's what happens when you have a child and work full time. Running 5 times a week goes by the waste side and you run when you can. We had so much fun and it motivated Steve and I to run more races together.
Today, we had Steve's dad and my dad over for lunch. It was nice to get everyone over for a relaxing meal. Lucas slept for 3 hours during their visit but both grandfathers got to spend some quality time with him.
Lucas really is enjoying Father's Day!Oh...Lucas is now saying "ball." It is so cute!

First Bout with Meds
I got a call from daycare on Tuesday saying Lucas' cough was getting worse and he had a fever. After the pediatrician examined Lucas, he wasn't sure if it was asthma, pneumonia, allergies, or the common cold. Lucas had to have a nebulizer treatment to rule out asthma. After the treatment, the doc concluded that Lucas had a slight case of pneumonia. He rallied like a trooper as we waiting to fill his prescription for a 1/2 hour. However, that night wasn't so fun. Lucas literally did not sleep. We tried everything and finally Steve took Lucas out in the car to see if sitting upright would help him sleep. Well it did help him sleep but as soon as Steve pulled in the driveway, Lucas woke up. Steve took the next day off to watch Lucas so I was like a walking zombie at work. As a working mom you do what you have to do. Lucas is feeling much better and is sleeping through the night again!
Before Lucas' sickness we went to the Southwick's Zoo with some friends. He seemed to enjoy jumping in the puddles more than the animals but I guess that's typical of a 17 month old. Probably the best part of the day was in the petting zoo. He was chasing around the goats and trying to pet them. He even tried to put his head on them like you would with a pillow. The goats really didn't like that too much. I wish I could figure out how to download video to the new computer so you can see it. Oh well maybe I'll try to figure it out during summer vacation (which is in 5 days!)

Our Little Fish
On this gorgeous Saturday we traveled to Rockport for a beach trip to meet up with Matt, Aletta, and Olivia. We brought Lucas to the beach last summer but it was very different this year since he can now walk. Let me tell you....he LOVED the water. It couldn't have been more than 55 degrees in the water but it didn't seem to bother him at all. But his washed up parents had to take turns standing in the water with him because our feet would go numb after a few minutes. Today was a foreshadowing of my summer.

Busy, Busy!
The past two weeks have been super busy for everyone in the Pevznamian family. On May 5th Steve turned 40! I've been enjoying harassing him over his age but in reality, he looks and feels great. It didn't even phase him he hit the big 4-0. We celebrated with hot dogs and ice cream cake! I am not sure who liked the cake more, Lucas or Steve?

Since Steve usually dresses Lucas in the morning, I thought it would be a cute surprise if Lucas was wearing something special for his daddy's birthday. Check out his shirt:

Last weekend we ventured to Brooklyn to celebrate Eli's 1st birthday. Lucas does pretty well in the car and just got a bit antsy toward the end (but so did his parents). It was interesting to watch the 3 little guys in action -Theo is 3, Lucas is 16 months and Eli is 1. Even though is was Eli's birthday, Holly and family didn't forget Steve. They even bought Steve a special birthday cupcake and made him a birthday hat! We had a great/exhausting time! Lucas actually said "cup" to his Auntie Holly and drank from a juice box for the first time.
